Welcome to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie!

EarthCam teamed up with the U.S. Forest Service to take visitors to the heart of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in northeast Illinois with live webcam views. Peek in on a small herd of bison, which was introduced as a 20-year experiment in restoring the landscape to the native tallgrass prairie. Between the hours of 6 AM - 6 PM local time, track the herd as they graze, which is essential to reviving and sustaining a more diverse habitat for birds and wildlife.
