Welcome to Wall Street, New York City... where fortunes are made and lost every day. This EarthCam camera is located at The Exchange, downtown's premier residence and directly above Vine Restaurant. See views of the Stock Exchange, Broad Street and the hustle of the Wall Street area.
Wall Street received it's name from the 12-foot-high wooden wall that was erected in 1653 across lower Manhattan to protect Dutch settlers from attacks by the British and Indians. The Stock Exchange's first home resided in a rented room at 40 Wall Street in 1817. The Stock Exchange of today at 18 Broad Street, designed by George B. Post, was opened in 1903.
