San Francisco 49ers Pave the Way for Stadium Documentation with EarthCam’s GigapixelCam Construction Camera

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, November 11, 2013 -- Known for building one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in all of professional sports, what do the San Francisco 49ers look for when selecting a construction camera to document progress for the new Levi’s® Stadium? Project executives chose EarthCam’s construction cameras to document the state-of-the-art facility. EarthCam’s GigapixelCam was recently added to the project site, creating a Super Bowl-worthy team of innovative technology.

Unparalleled in documentation photography and generating impressive panoramas, the GigapixelCam will document progress for the new football stadium in super high-definition clarity. Users will have the ability to zoom in on the captured image to view different areas of the stadium under construction in extreme detail. Adding to the archived images captured by the combination of megapixel time-lapse and live streaming video cameras that have been onsite since April 2012, project teams will have a robust portfolio of photos at the end of the project to create a stunning time-lapse movie.

“The construction of Levi's® Stadium is a historic project for the 49ers and the City of Santa Clara,” said San Francisco 49ers Chief Operating Officer Paraag Marathe. “It has been more than 50 years since an NFL stadium has been built in the state of California and we wanted to make sure we documented the project from every angle—from groundbreaking through ribbon-cutting. Partnering with EarthCam allows us to preserve this unique period for our fans and for our history.”

“We can’t think of a better place to launch our first stadium GigapixelCam webcam,” said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder of EarthCam. “We’re looking forward to documenting each stage of this significant project and sharing the live views online so the community and 49ers fans can follow the progress.”

Upon completion, EarthCam time-lapse editors will comb through the thousands of documented images and hand-edit them into a professional quality time-lapse movie. Viewers will be able to watch as 2 years of construction progress for this $1.2 billion, 68,500-seat open-air stadium goes from groundbreaking to opening day in just seconds.
