EarthCam Premieres Time-Lapse Movie of New Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Construction Cameras Document Interior and Exterior Progression

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, December 1, 2012 -- The new Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas, designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate, Thom Mayne, opens its doors to the public today. EarthCam is celebrating the grand opening with the release of a new time-lapse movie showcasing the exterior construction milestones and interior assembly of the dinosaur exhibit hall.

Located in Dallas' historic Fair Park, the new Museum of Nature and Science came about when a unique merger brought together three Dallas institutions – The Dallas Museum of Natural History, The Science Place and the Dallas Children's Museum. Balfour Beatty, one of the world's largest contractors, began construction in the spring of 2010. EarthCam installed a wireless, solar megapixel construction camera to carefully document all activity of the 180,000 square foot facility for archival record and time-lapse photography. An interactive EarthCam-hosted video player on the Perot Museum website allowed the public to view progress from foundation to completion.

"The Museum of Nature and Science is an important architectural and cultural addition to Dallas”, said Brian Cury, CEO & Founder of EarthCam." This type of innovative building is one of the reasons why we were excited to open our office here earlier this year and will continue to work with builders and developers throughout Texas, bringing the latest in oonstruction camera technology to help them monitor, document and promote their projects."

In addition to the eco-friendly exterior camera, the Perot Museum mounted EarthCam's custom-built interior 12 MegapixelCam system in the 14,000 square foot Life: Then and Now hall. The new dinosaur exhibit features the fossils of the Alamosaurus, which is among the largest dinosaur skeletons on display in the world. EarthCam editors combed through thousands of images and synced thematic music to produce an exciting time-lapse video documenting a combination of the museum being built and then each prehistoric bone carefully secured into place. The new Perot Museum of Nature and Science is guaranteed to thrill visitors of all ages.
