Hidden video camera provides close-up look at condor home life (therecord.com)
A new reality TV show unfolded this year in a cave in a sandstone cliff about 120 kilometres northwest of Los Angeles. While home alone and waiting for his parents to return with carrion for dinner, an energetic young male California condor played games on the floor of the cave: tossing feathers and bones into the air with his beak, then pouncing on them with blunt claws. Making their debut this year are several new balloons including Paddington Bear, Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, Thomas the Tank Engine and a few others. According to an AP news report, Thomas will be the parade's largest balloon by helium volume and the one containing the most balloon fabric ever used on one character. The site also offers an interactive website with plenty of resources, including maps, apps and more. It's World Prematurity Day, a time to raise awareness about premature births. At St. Vincent Healthcare, parents can access webcams online anytime to check in on their little ones in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Kyrsten Bronson says she gave birth to her son Khalen on September 27, at 26 weeks. Today, they sent over the below video of the entire Bay Bridge East Span Replacement, construction of which ran from 2008-2013. That's kind of their thing, as EarthCam specializes in "live streaming video and time-lapse construction cameras for corporate and government clients in major cities around the world," like ours! (If you're a dork like me, you can waste a lot of time on EarthCam's ConstructionCamTV, which is all live construction cameras and educational time-lapse movies, all the time. Thousands of veterans are expected to fill the streets of Manhattan for the 2014 Veterans Day Parade in New York City on Tuesday. Around 25,000 marchers, including vets dating back to World War II, will march 1.3 miles up Fifth Avenue, from 26th Street to 52nd Street. The new One World Trade Center opened its doors on Monday to welcome the 175 employees of Condé Nast who were reporting for their first day on the job at the new office.
