Welcome to Nashville!

In the "SoBro" (South of Broadway) section of Nashville, the EarthCam and affiliate NAI camera reveals both historic sites and a glimpse of the future. The luxury Union Station Hotel, a restored travel hub that stands in tribute to 19th Century Gothic architecture, and the Ryman Auditorium, home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974, await Internet visits. The auditorium, registered as a National Historical Landmark, today welcomes audiences to a variety of performances including visits from the latest Grand Ole Opry headliners. The camera also provides views of the multi-purpose Sommet Center, home of Nashville's NHL Predators and venue for a wide range of activites from major concerts to Broadway Shows. Across the river from the foot of Broadway the city's first public artwork, "Ghost Ballet for East Bank Machineworks" honors industries that once dominated the east bank of the Cumberland River while representing the city's momentum and energy.

Views of local streets including a legendary bar crawl lead to a statue of none other than Elvis Presley that tantalizes passersby who can't resist taking photos, or at the very least stopping to visit with the King. It's a great place to call friends and family on a cell phone and wave to them on the web!

Nashville is the land of country music, and what better place to host an EarthCam but Gaylord Entertainment. Here the EarthCam captures views of the surrounding entertainment complex. You can see the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, the Opry Mills Mall that includes the state of the art IMAX Theatre. In addition you can also see the downtown Nashville skyline, and the serene Cumberland River with the beautiful General Jackson showboat that floats downtown to Riverfront Park.

Nashville began as Fort Nashborough in 1779. Since then it has grown into a major metropolitan area that's much more than Tennessee's state capital. Home to US Presidents, the very first FM radio station, Nashville is known today as "Music City, USA," the birthplace of country music. "The King," Elvis Presley, recorded over 200 songs at RCA's historic Studio B on Music Row in downtown Nashville.
