EarthCam Premieres Time-Lapse at Opening Ceremonies for Vancouver's BC Place

Stadium Construction Cameras Document More Than One Year of Progress In Minutes

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, September 30, 2011 -- EarthCam, the webcam technology experts, will premiere their official time-lapse movie for construction of the BC Place sports stadium in Vancouver. Opening ceremonies for the revamped facility will take place tonight and will feature a dazzling 20-minute light show prior to the start of the game.

The cinematic time-lapse movie offers three incredible views of the construction progress. Viewers will be able to see all activity on the interior of the structure, assembly of the stadium roof and a comprehensive wide screen shot from across False Creek, with the Vancouver skyline serving as the backdrop for this iconic structure. The Science World Museum's amazing globe structure even makes an appearance in the movie's finale. EarthCam's time-lapse production team worked over 100 hours in the editing room, compiling more than 125,000 HD images into this impressive documentation of British Columbia's landmark stadium.

In order to capture activity from these various angles, BC Place utilized three of EarthCam's 12 MegapixelCam Advanced camera systems. These heavy-duty, all-weather webcams offers live streaming video and unmatched high definition images of the project site. The strategic placement of these powerful systems maximized the number of captured images, which ultimately created this stunning time-lapse documentation of the project.

The main attraction for the new state-of-the-art arena is the retractable roof. This feature will reveal over 7,500 square meters of clear blue sky and will turn BC Place into a year-round, open-air facility and a new architectural signature for the province. This cable-supported roof is the biggest of its kind in the world and can be tailored to the atmosphere of any event. BC Place recently served as the venue for opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

EarthCam also created a web page in order to promote construction of the renovated stadium to the public. The web page invites visitors to view continuously updating images of the progress, explore the image archives and watch up-to-date time-lapse movies. For BC Lions fans, this is the ultimate way to see the formation of their team's new home. The two exterior webcams will continue to broadcast live and the time-lapse movies will be updated periodically.
