EarthCam Celebrates 15 Years As Webcam Network Leader

New HD Streaming Webcams, A Website Redesign & More For Their 15th Anniversary

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, August 30, 2011 -- EarthCam, the world's most popular webcam network, is celebrating its 15th anniversary today. In honor of this milestone achievement, today at 15:00 hours (3pm ET) the company will launch a complete redesign of their website, EarthCam.com, which offers a searchable database of webcams with views across the globe.

Throughout the years, EarthCam.com has become famous for its Times Square Cams and various scenic destination cameras. As EarthCam turns 15, it continues to expand its exclusive network of webcams, adding new live cameras every month, including views of the Abbey Road Crossing in London made famous by The Beatles, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC and the World Trade Center construction at Ground Zero in New York City. EarthCam also offers stunning views of important American icons, such as the Statue of Liberty, St. Louis Gateway Arch, Seattle Space Needle, the Charging Bull on Wall Street, and most recently the famous Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.

With the introduction of broadcast-quality streaming cameras, visitors are now able to enjoy a wide variety of views periodically on news stations worldwide, from the scenic beaches of Boracay in the Philippines to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood Boulevard in California. The popularity of these cameras is all the more evident in a recent deal between EarthCam and CNN Headline News, which regularly features EarthCam cameras on air.

“We are proud to have innovated webcam technology as both a business tool and an art form”, said Brian Cury, CEO & Founder of EarthCam. “From entertainment applications for tourism, to a serious documentation tool for the construction industry, we pioneered a successful recurring revenue business model of delivering webcam content and services over the past 15 years. When EarthCam was founded in 1996, there were less than 500 webcams connected to the internet and now there are millions. The popularity that EarthCam has sustained throughout the years has exceeded our wildest expectations and is due largely to our dedicated team and their commitment to excellence. I would like to thank our sponsors and fans, as we look forward to continued innovation for the next 15 years.”

To honor their 15th anniversary, EarthCam has implemented various new upgrades and tools to their flagship website. The EarthCam.com home page has a new stream-lined design, featuring live widescreen streaming video and offers translation in 16 languages. EarthCam has introduced a new MyCam Page feature, which allows users to broadcast flash video from their personal webcam, enabling them to instantly create their own tourism camera and promote it to the world. MyCam Page users can also embed and share their web page link on Facebook and Twitter through EarthCam's new social media experience.

The EarthCam for Kids website has also benefited from an upgrade. This site is designed for children and is full of kid-friendly content aimed at being fun and educational, which has become popular among educators for use in classrooms. Teachers can structure lesson plans around the content, which features a variety of topics from zoos and animals, including the Panda exhibit at Zoo Atlanta, to important icons and landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower.

EarthCam continues to offer the webcam software and technology they pioneered for corporations and government agencies to document major global projects and will feature exciting projects in progress on EarthCam.com, such as the Flight 93 National Memorial, The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Panama Canal Extension, Florida Marlins Stadium, Coney Island, Madison Square Garden, George W. Bush Presidential Library and The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial.
