George W. Bush Presidential Center Construction Time-Lapse Premiered by EarthCam

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, May 1, 2013 -- It's a historic day for Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After more than two years of construction, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will open to the public today. EarthCam is proud to be a part of this significant project and celebrated this momentous occasion with the premiere of their construction time-lapse, highlighting the many project milestones from foundation to completion.

Former First Lady of the United States, Mrs. Laura Bush, invited EarthCam's CEO and Founder, Brian Cury, to be a part of this historic project upon viewing EarthCam's time-lapse movie created for the Flight 93 Memorial. Construction Manager, Manhattan Construction, selected two of EarthCam's innovative 12 MegapixelCam systems to carefully document progress for this important project. The high-definition construction cameras captured jobsite activity from two unique perspectives with crisp, 12 megapixel images. Views of the project were made available on a public web page, so the surrounding community, university students and all Americans could stay up-to-date on the progress and watch as each beam was secured into place. EarthCam's Time-Lapse Production team pored over the more than 156,000 images captured from the groundbreaking in November 2010 until the completion in April 2013. These images were hand-edited from over 20,000 hours of archived imagery into a 2-minute time-lapse movie, complete with thematic music.

Located on 15 acres of beautiful park space featuring native plants and grasses, the new library and museum will feature presidential archives, documents and artifacts of the Bush Administration. The library serves as a way for the public to study the life and career of George W. Bush, and offers a better understanding of the presidency and American history. The library is full of textual, audiovisual and electronic records and materials, including email messages and hand-written notes. The museum will visually illustrate the story of the United States. The 14,000-square-foot permanent exhibit is organized into four important themes – freedom, responsibility, opportunity and compassion. Sure to be popular stops will be the full-sized Oval Office, Texas Rose Garden and the interactive Decision Points Theater which puts the visitor in the President's shoes.
