EarthCam Construction Camera Documents Rebuilding of Seaside Heights
Watch Live as This Beloved Shore Town is Restored
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, March 22, 2013 -- On October 29th, 2012, Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the East coast. This historic “100 year” storm caused significant damage along the entire coast, but focused her energy on New York and New Jersey. One of the worst hit areas, the beloved Jersey Shore town of Seaside Heights, was completely devastated. After months of sorting through the rubble, town officials, residents and the surrounding community are rallying to rebuild and EarthCam has teamed with Seaside Realty to document this heroic effort.
EarthCam's StreamCam HD is located right on the famous Seaside Heights boardwalk, and will deliver live streaming views as progress is made daily to repair the damage the mile-long boardwalk sustained from the hurricane. Viewers all over the world will be able to stay up-to-date on the progress for this popular Jersey Shore spot – one that brings back happy memories for so many. The grand reopening for the boardwalk, shops and attractions is slated for Memorial Day weekend.
“We are very excited about our new partnership with EarthCam”, said Seaside Heights Mayor William Akers. “The live views enable people that cannot be here physically to still be a part of the rebuilding process, with the hope that they will soon be able to visit our community and walk on the new boardwalk.”
After the last board has been secured into place, EarthCam Time-Lapse editors and producers will comb through the captured images to create a cinematic, and what's sure to be touching, time-lapse movie. The movie will showcase construction progress as the heart of this town comes back better and stronger.
“As a New Jersey company, our team feels a sense of responsibility and pride to promote the Seaside Heights rebuilding effort”, said Brian Cury, CEO & Founder of EarthCam. “We're looking forward to sharing live views as one of the Jersey Shore's favorite towns is restored to its former glory.”
The camera will take up permanent residence on the boardwalk and will continue delivering views well after the reconstruction is complete. Watch as people “come home” to play their favorite arcade games, indulge in the delicious food and enjoy the rides and thrills of Seaside Heights.
