EarthCam's MetroCams Network Launches 2 New Cameras

EarthCam's Owned and Operated Network of Webcams Continues to Expand

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, April 9, 2004 -- EarthCam, the Internet's premier global webcam network and a leader in webcasting technology, is pleased to announce the addition of 2 new cameras to its MetroCams network. Located in Truckee, California and Waukegan, Illinois, these 2 cameras add to EarthCam's already extensive owned and operated worldwide network of cameras.

EarthCam's Tahoe Cam brings viewers live images from atop the Snowbird double chair lift at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area. The camera is nestled in the beautiful scenery of Truckee, which is located approximately 20 miles from Lake Tahoe. Visitors can tune in to the Tahoe Cam between the hours of 5am and 6pm Pacific time to enjoy the views and watch skiers on the slopes.

The Peregrine Falcon Cam lets animal enthusiasts peer into a Peregrine nest on the roof of a power plant. The nest, which is a wooden box, has been the urban nesting site of a Peregrine from Wisconsin named Fran since 2001. Now visitors can watch live images of Fran and her mate brood their eggs and care for their hatchlings.

Field Museum scientist and director of the Chicago Peregrine Falcon Program, Mary Hennen, and her team have launched this online expedition to study falcons. Over the last 20 years, Mary and her fellow team members have helped to successfully reintroduce the federally endangered Peregrine Falcons back into the Midwest.
