EarthCam Launches New Website
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, August 30, 2006 -- EarthCam (www.earthcam.com), the world's favorite webcam network and leading provider of live webcam content, is pleased to announce the launch of a new section of its portal website called "My EarthCam," coinciding with the company’s tenth anniversary. The new "My EarthCam" section is available only to members who register. Registered users receive exclusive new services and features. The breakthrough "MyCamPage Publisher" is a free service where My EarthCam members can publish their own personal webcam page by customizing one of a wide variety of colorful templates with text, graphics, and themes. Newly developed Webcam Plus software allows users to display live updating USB camera images on their webcam page. IP network cameras can also be used with MyCamPage Publisher. EarthCam's editorial team will review submitted member pages and choose which ones to promote to EarthCam’s visitors.
"The tenth anniversary of EarthCam is an historic occasion for the entire company," said Brian Cury, Founder and CEO of EarthCam, Inc. "To celebrate, we are delivering 'My EarthCam' as a present to millions of our loyal fans. We hope they will enjoy all the new exclusive features and free offers." To address the huge international traffic that has truly made EarthCam.com the place "Where the World Watches the World," the website portal is now translated into six languages: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Simply click on a flag in the upper right hand corner of the header and every page visited will be translated into the language of your choice. Another exciting My EarthCam feature is a "My Favorite Cams" area where members can save lists of their favorite webcams into 2 user-created and one "Dream Destinations" category. Members can add as many cameras as they wish, re-order their lists, and email links to their top 3 choices in a category to friends and family.
My EarthCam also features a Traveler page where members have exclusive access to special travel discounts. A "Travel Here" link under each of the "Dream Destinations" will take members directly to Expedia.com to book their travel.
A monthly News Flash will be emailed directly to My EarthCam members who subscribe. The newsletter will highlight the latest news, best webcams, the hottest upcoming events, exclusive offers - and much more.
Enhanced search features are now available. Users can now search for webcams by zip code and obtain a list of cameras within 10, 50, or 100 miles of that zip code. If a webcam has earned awards from users or EarthCam editors, it will have an award icon next to it on the search results page.
Finally, a completely revamped World Flash Map includes animated zoom levels from world to continents to countries. On the U.S. map, users can zoom in on any state. Thousands of camera locations are included on the map; clicking on any one map point brings up a search results page with a list of the webcams in that location.
