| Square four days prior to New York City's famous lowering of the ball at Midnight, New Year's Eve. Each high-resolution, color webcam will display a variety of unique and exciting frequently updating views of the renowned party at the "Crossroads of the World". Internet users, for the first time ever, will experience the point-of-view of the New Year's Eve Ball from a webcam placed high above the crowd at One Times Square. Other webcam locales include 46th Street & Broadway, 44th Street & Broadway and a New York City landmark, Lindy's Restaurant.
EarthCam's complete, live Internet coverage of New Year's Eve in Times Square includes streaming video and audio of the enormous celebration from 11:30pm until 12:30am, January 1, 1999. Visitors to the site can watch and listen as the 500 pound rhinestone-covered ball lowers at the stroke of midnight and two tons of glittering confetti and 30,000 balloons are showered over the cheering crowd of half a million people in Times Square.
In addition, Internet users can experience a variety of New Year celebrations from around the world. EarthCam's "Countdown to 1999" webcast will also feature video images and links to live webcams in multiple time zones across the globe.
