For those dreaming of warmer locales, take a virtual live tour with the Maui Cam (digitaltrends.com)
The cold that’s still gripping onto spring has us dreaming of jetting off to warmer climates, but a round-trip ticket from New York City to Maui, Hawaii, costs more than $1,400 (and that’s a coach ticket). A cheaper alternative is a click away: EarthCam recently added a new location in Maui’s Cove Beach Park. You get a crystal-clear view (when it’s not overcast or storming, that is) of the happenings on Kamaole Beach in Kihei. The Maui Cam joins the Kauai Cam, Waikoloa Cam, Hawaii Surf Cam, and others situated all over the Hawaiian Islands, which has us thinking: How many other sunny locales can we visit virtually, as we struggle to climb out of a cold winter?  more... 3/26/2015

Webcam brings viewers up close to Stanley Park’s herons (vancouversun.com)
The Vancouver park board launched a webcam to document the lives of Stanley Park’s tall, long-legged Pacific great blue herons, who live in one of North America’s largest urban colonies with over 100 birds. “We hope it helps people appreciate the uniqueness of this situation, that these herons are notoriously shy, but that they’re here in this abundance year after year is remarkable,” Malcolm Bromley, the board’s general manager, said in an interview. “So, it’s an engagement tool for us with the public.”  more... 3/18/2015

This Temple Bar Live Stream Might Make You Want To Stay Indoors (lovindublin.com)
Most Dubliners know that there's much more to the city than just the old 'cultural quarter' of Temple Bar. But then, most Dubliners aren't in Temple Bar today. After all, even though the cobbled streets can provide an absolutely unreal atmosphere, it can generally get so crowded (not to mention expensive) that it's best to veer off the beaten track – particularly on St Patrick's Day.  more... 3/17/2015

This live stream of Dublin on St Patrick's Day will make you feel drunk (independent.co.uk)
A live-streaming camera has been set up at the Temple Bar section of Dublin in Ireland for St Patricks Day, and is currently showing a frankly terrifying number of green leprechaun hats. Sorry if you're reading this 18 March onwards, when it's probably back to just one or two day drinkers. Congratulations if you've stumbled upon it between 8pm and 3am tonight though, when I can't imagine what kind of barbaric scenes will be unfolding.  more... 3/17/2015

Here’s how Temple Bar is faring today… (uk.news.yahoo.com)
On st. patrick’s Day, Temple Bar becomes the centre of divilment and merriment, its cobblestoned vista transformed into a sea of green hats and inflatable tricoloured hammers. Earthcam has a camera positioned at the corner of Temple Bar and, on St. Patrick’s Day, the livestream makes for some pretty compelling viewing. If you love the sound of people talking loudly over one another and participating in Oasis singalongs, you should check it out.  more... 3/17/2015
