Available for $1.99, the app features exclusive webcams from three locations in New Orleans. The first camera is setup at the famous Cat’s Meow club where you’re able to enjoy karaoke, Mardi Gras style. The second camera takes you to Bourbon Street. Mayor Filner Announces Plans for New "Seal Cam" (cbs8.com)
The Children's Pool in La Jolla is in the headlines again, as a new project is to be unveiled by Mayor Bob Filner Thursday. Filner is expected to present what's being called a Seal Cam at the Children's Pool. The Seal Cam will provide live streaming video of the seals that can be seen online. It's being paid for by the non-profit group Western Alliance for Nature. However, some critics are upset with Mayor Filner, accusing him of bypassing the permit process to get the camera installed. Currently a rope barrier, with limited beach access for visitors, is in place to discourage people from wandering too close to the seals.  more... 1/31/2013

High-tech webcam streams coverage of Broad Museum construction (blogdowntown.com)
The three-story, Grand Avenue Broad Museum is expected to be completed in 2014 -- but for those of us who can't wait that long, one company is streaming coverage of the museum's construction online. EarthCam, a company which uses high-tech, HD webcams to monitor places and projects throughout the world, has now taken on DTLA's own Broad Museum. Alcoa EagleCam named one of 25 best webcams of 2012 (bizjournals.com)
Alcoa's EagleCam is getting its time in the spotlight. Earthcam.com calls the webcam that shows a bald eagle nest at Alcoa's (NYSE: AA) Davenport, Iowa, manufacturing facility as one of its "25 Most Interesting Webcams of 2012." The cam follows Liberty and Justice, two bald eagles that had one eaglet in 2011 and three more in 2012. It got 12 million page views in 2012. Webcams aren't just for adults anymore -- now babies are in on the technology. Little baby Bauer was the first baby in Billings to be seen on the Nicview Webcam System. Giraffe webcam makes top 25 list (greenvilleonline.com)
