Cat pictures have become a staple of the internet, but one robotics firm is bring real felines online with an internet connected cat toy and webcam. Idaho firm has already installed its system in 10 animals shelters across the US, letting anyone play with cats via the system. Users join a virtual queue, and can then control three toys and a webcam in the enclosure. Unmanned aerial vehicles aren’t just for spies or for the battlefield. Farmers all over the country think drones can give them a leg up, too. Tech-savvy farmers have been waiting for years for the government to make up its mind about the commercial use of unmanned aerial vehicles. Right now, anyone flying a drone for business instead of as a hobby is actually breaking federal law. CityArchRiver Launches New Web Cam For Viewing Arch Grounds Construction (stlouis.cbslocal.com)
On Monday, CityArchRiver 2015 Foundation launched a new camera that shows several views of construction on the renovation of the Gateway Arch grounds and its surroundings. The robotic camera, placed on the roof of the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch, will offer panoramic views of the Arch grounds and downtown St. Louis in addition to high-resolution images of different components of the CityArchRiver 2015 project. But luckily when the weather gets tough, the tough can go online. There is a menagerie of webcams around the world, broadcasting animals of all kinds in zoos, aquariums, sanctuaries and the wild. I figure if my kids are going to beg me to watch videos on the computer, at least they can learn some observation skills and gain an appreciation for wildlife. I gave each of the girls paper and a box of crayons, and encouraged them to draw pictures of the animals they were watching.
