Giraffe Birth Slated Live on EarthCam.com! (beachcarolina.com)
I am hooked on EarthCam.com, particularly one cam that is pointing at an expectant mother at the Greenville Zoo in South Carolina. With the click of a mouse, I could have a bird’s eye view just about anywhere in the world; but, as of yesterday, I can’t pull myself away from Autumn, one of the zoo’s many Masai giraffes, and about to be first-time mother. I’ve learned that I’m not the only one watching either.  more... 10/16/2012

Webcams are useful for long distance couples (thedailyaztec.com)
It’s another special night with your significant other and the mood is just right. Candles are flickering, the food smells wonderful and there’s no one else you’d rather be with. Just as you’re about to acknowledge how great your date looks, your date completely freezes and you can’t understand a word being uttered. Then you realize your wireless Internet connection has failed on you once again. When you’re in a long distance relationship, date nights on Skype are just something you have to accept. Being hundreds of miles apart can be extremely difficult, but many couples enjoy the perks of using webcams to compensate for the distance.  more... 10/10/2012

Zoo cam focuses on giraffe mom-to-be (wyff4.com)
A giraffe who makes her home at the Greenville Zoo is about to give birth, and a web cam has been set up to allow people to keep an eye on the "maternity ward." Autumn, the 6-year-old Masai giraffe, will give birth to the zoo’s first baby giraffe. To take a peek at Autumn and possibly get to witness the birth, click here to go to the livestreaming Earth Cam. At times the camera is turned off or not available. WYFF News 4 does not control the camera. Autumn and her mate are on a breeding loan. As part of the loan, Autumn came to the Greenville Zoo from the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston in 2007 to be paired with the zoo’s male giraffe, Walter, 7, from the San Diego Zoo.   more... 10/5/2012

Greenville Zoo Prepares For Baby Giraffe Birth (wspa.com)
There's often one less giraffe on display at the Greenville Zoo right now, but there will soon be three. Zoo staff has separated Autumn from Walter after noting movement of a baby giraffe in her stomach. While the couple may not be able to see each other, you still can. On Wednesday, Greenville Zoo installed two webcams inside the exhibit. The giraffes have become overnight reality stars.  more... 10/5/2012

Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley hopes to add webcams to its new NICU (wfmj.com)
Lyla Jones has always had eyes peering down on her. However, they haven't always been those of her parents. Born premature, Lyla spent more than two months in the NICU at Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley. "I was ok the first night and then the second day we went up. And then when we went up, I came down and my husband and my mother-in-law went up and they came down and I was just in tears and they were like, 'Oh what is wrong?' and I was like, 'I don't want to leave her," said Nicole Jones of Columbiana.  more... 10/2/2012
