Pier reopens in Naples; Surfing Santa set for Manalapan (palmbeachpost.com)
Anyone who has ever spent any time in Naples knows how special the Naples Fishing Pier is for fishermen and tourists and anyone who enjoys watching the sunset. First built in 1888 as a freight and passenger dock, the pier quickly became a community landmark.
A section of the pier and the post office located on it was lost to a fire in 1912.

Surfing Santa will be making regular appearances off the coast of Manalapan on Mondays and Fridays starting Dec. 14.
The pier was rebuilt after hurricanes damaged it in 1920, 1926 and 1960.

According to WOOD-TV, the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety shut down the Grand Haven pier on Wednesday night due to the high winds hitting the area. The National Weather Service has issued gale warnings for the Great Lakes region and says that Lake Michigan waves along parts of western Michigan could be 10 to 16 feet today.

New York Wheel scores City Council approval (therealdeal.com)
The New York Wheel on Staten Island has just clinched City Council approval, clearing the way for construction on the massive Ferris Wheel to begin. The City Council specifically approved adjustments to a parking garage adjacent to the Wheel, according to Curbed. Originally, the garage was proposed as a three-level structure; but the new approved plan calls for a four-level garage with a smaller footprint. It will also “[allow] for additional benefits to utilize natural instead of mechanic ventilation and creating more self-parking as requested by the community,” according to a press release. more... 11/2/2015
