Wisconsin hospital webcam allows families to watch newborns in neonatal unit (startribune.com)
Four-year-old McKenzie Flowerette of Stevens Point said she can't wait for the day Isabella, McKenzie's newborn sister, finally comes home. Isabella, born Dec. 14, is a patient at the Anya Marie Jackson Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where her mother, Bonny Flowerette, watches over her day and night. McKenzie and her father, Ryan Flowerette, can't be in Wausau every day, but they, too, watch over Isabella —thanks to a webcam system installed earlier this month at the hospital. "The webcam is a godsend," said Bonny Flowerette, who gave birth to Isabella when she was just 33 weeks pregnant. "McKenzie can't wait to be a big sister. Seeing the baby has been so wonderful for her."  more... 12/30/2013

Doctors Now Making House Calls - Via Web Cam (babble.com)
Some people are more hesitant to call the doctor than others. If I come down with a strange illness that Google doesn’t diagnose as a run-of-the-mill cold, I call to make an appointment with my primary care physician, stat. Likewise, I’ve got my children’s pediatrician on speed dial, and I don’t hesitate to call their answering service at midnight on a Friday for a scary-sounding cough. But some people - like my husband - are not as friendly with their doctors. They go so infrequently that they have to remind their doctors who they are every time. And their wives are stuck making the appointments for them when they have a medical mystery that really must be solved by a qualified non-Google expert.  more... 12/16/2013

Project allows viewers to watch Santa fuel up his N.S. team (thechronicleherald.ca)
Santa’s helpers hardly raise an antler when the jolly old elf pushes through the enclosure gate. The man in the bright red and white suit strides past a gift-laden sleigh and taps his bucket of pine branches with his open hand to gain the attention of the five reindeer resting on the frigid ground at the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park. They rise to their feet, stretch and gingerly approach the white-bearded gent who carries a treat and some supper. Every day at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Santa approaches the sparse herd under the careful eye of the live webcam provided by novascotiawebcams.  more... 12/16/2013
