New York, New York December 1, 1998 - The world famous Christmas Tree
Lighting in New York's Rockefeller Center will be webcast LIVE by EarthCam, the Internet's first searchable directory of webcams.
For years news rooms across the country have broadcast the lighting of
the mammoth tree in Rockefeller Center;
now EarthCam, the company that brought you New York City's Halloween and
St. Patrick's Day, inside views of
NASCAR, the Super Bowl and much more, will be bringing the Festivities
to the Internet for the first time
ever. Images of the preparation, participants and, of course, the
magnificent Tree, will be available to
anyone with Internet access. Viewers can watch the Lighting as it
happens on December 2, 1998 from 6:30 PM
until 9:00 PM (EST) If they miss it, images will be archived on
www.earthcam.com/tree/index.html.
Rockefeller Center is one of the biggest tourist attractions in New York
City. Located in the heart of the
City, Rockefeller Center's most famous winter feature is the Ice Rink,
where anyone can skate under the
branches of the Tree. There is also a rinkside restaurant, and music
plays as visitors glide across the ice.
