The 2012 tribute launches May 23rd with "The Parade of ships" up the Hudson River. The parade begins a week filled with events throughout the city from Battery Park to Times Square to Central Park. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, located at Pier 86, is the center of activities beginning as the official location for viewing the "Parade of Ships". The museum will also host a series of events throughout the week including a wreath laying ceremony concerts, and contests between ships including a tug of war, best chow, and other challenges.
