New York City stops traffic on the busiest section of its famous Fifth Avenue annually for the
"Easter Parade" one of most unorganized fun events in the annual City calendar. For more than 100
years now the annual tradition has brought thousands to the street casually strolling to show off their
outfits and watch others display their finery.
No bands, no floats, no direction of march, just some colorful meandering down the middle of the avenue
from 49th Street near St. Patrick's Cathedral for a 10 block stretch to 57th street or visa versa.
Creative bonnets rule the day and are taken to the extreme by many participants. Looking closely may
entertain viewers with chapeaus featuring, live rabbits, snakes, flowers, frosted cakes and
almost anything imaginable. Pets also stroll the street often decked out in outfits matching their human's style statement.
Happy Easter !.
