earthcam_sherri: I recently saw Saturday Night Fever and the whole audience was out of their seats and dancing. It was a great show.
earthcam_mira: That's a great show!
earthcam_sherri: There is a certain excitement that is in the air when you are at a Broadway show that isn't present in any other medium.
earthcam_sherri: The best part is that we don't even have to leave our houses to see some great Broadway performances!
earthcam_mira: and be able to see all of the shows in two hours!

broadway_deedee: I played Kim in Miss Saigon on Broadway for three years
earthcam_mira: How was your experience as Kim in Miss Saigon?

broadway_deedee: i worked on a couple of worskshops
broadway_deedee: and readings
broadway_deedee: one was a reading of Esmerelda--a new musical
broadway_deedee: and one of romeo and juliet, a rock musical
broadway_deedee: and I'm now working on a play by JI-hyuM Lee called SuPER FIrienDS from Flushing QUEENS
manolis_varnassinger asks: how demanding was your role of miss saigon and were you feeling nervous before you go on stage
broadway_deedee: vocally, emotionally , physically draining
broadway_deedee: and after doing it for five and a half years
broadway_deedee: I should be in therAPY :)
manolis_varnassinger asks: deedee are you planning to return to broadway again
broadway_deedee: I would love to returN to broadway
broadway_deedee: hopefully a show That I am right for will COMe up

broadway_deedee: i wanted to do miss saigon sincE I saw the show in london when i waS sixteen
broadway_deedee: and i finally did get to play the role of kim in the touring company
broadway_deedee: ave played the role on broadway
broadway_deedee: everyone wants to be on broadwaY!
etcetera2 asks: What is your most memorable moment from Miss Saigon?
broadway_deedee: at the moment
broadway_deedee: what comes to mind is my last performance
broadway_deedee: y family was in the audience
broadway_deedee: what was going through my head
broadway_deedee: was that i was going to be singing these words for the last time
broadway_deedee: actically cried throughout the entire show
broadway_deedee: it was sad--
broadway_deedee: like a part of my life was coming to an end,
broadway_deedee: and it was a huge chapter in my life
manolis_varnassinger asks: deedee did you always to be an actress
broadway_deedee: ever since i can remember!
leadonmc asks: How do you feel about your picture on buses and full page ads in the Times
broadway_deedee: I was walking down the street,
broadway_deedee: and i saw my face on a bus
broadway_deedee: and i had to jump on the bus
broadway_deedee: and ride it for a few blocks
broadway_deedee: so i could tell my mom that i had ridden a bus with my face on it
broadway_deedee: its pretty crazy, but cool
etcetera2 asks: So are you going to make a solo album anytime soon??? Please say yes!
broadway_deedee: i would *love* to
broadway_deedee: its in the works--
broadway_deedee: slowly but surely
nobodysangel31 asks: what kind of advice would u give to anyone interested to be on broadway?
broadway_deedee: i think the best thing for you to do is to keep working on your craft
broadway_deedee: singing, dncing, acting, whatever
broadway_deedee: whether its private study
broadway_deedee: or goingt o school
broadway_deedee: or getting as much experience and exposure as possible
broadway_deedee: Whether you are working or not working,
broadway_deedee: you need to keep busy training and perfecting yourcraft
bettyboo00 asks: i live in london and have never heard of u,have u ever acted over here
broadway_deedee: I love london
broadway_deedee: i toured with a singing group, the party,
broadway_deedee: and we were in london for about a couple months
broadway_deedee: and we did various tv guest apearances
broadway_deedee: and we did a few performances
broadway_deedee: but other than that, no
broadway_deedee: but someone said they saw miss saigon in london, and they used the same ads as here, so
broadway_deedee: my *face* was in london! :)
manolis_varnassinger asks: have you ever played roles on tv or cinema
broadway_deedee: i did a couple of guest appearances on different tv shows
broadway_deedee: that are taped in NY
broadway_deedee: when i first got here in '97
broadway_deedee: the only film i worked on was sister act 2
broadway_deedee: whoopi was so cool
etcetera2 asks: Do you have any other dream roles for Broadway?
broadway_deedee: i would love to play eponine
broadway_deedee: in les mis
leadonmc asks: Will you be part of the November 2 4000th show?
broadway_deedee: i know that they want to have some kind of gala performance
broadway_deedee: or the one on nov 2nd
broadway_deedee: and i plan to attend the party
broadway_deedee: but dec 31st,
broadway_deedee: b/c it is new year's eve
broadway_deedee: it might be too crazy in times square
leadonmc asks: What is planned for the last show?
broadway_deedee: so I'm not sure they are going to do something

broadway_deedee: Yes--
broadway_deedee: i keep in touch with the oter party members as much as I can
broadway_deedee: and I just recently saw JC and Justin from N'Sync at their
broadway_deedee: HBO special concert

broadway_deedee: i was born in portsmouth VA
broadway_deedee: and i grew up in san diego CA
broadway_deedee: and I lived in orlando, FL
broadway_deedee: while i worked on the micky mouse club

broadway_deedee: these people have been my family for the past 5 1/2 years
broadway_deedee: and i hope that we keep in touch forever
etcetera2 asks: are tickets sold out to that show??
broadway_deedee: i'm not sure about the final performance
broadway_deedee: but if you want to see miss saigon
broadway_deedee: you should try to get tickets as soon as possible,
broadway_deedee: since it will be the last time you will get a chance to see it
broadway_deedee: and its a great show
broadway_deedee: bring tissues

broadway_deedee: Sure, yeah
broadway_deedee: its difficult in many ways
broadway_deedee: and this business is so unpredictable
broadway_deedee: and unstable
broadway_deedee: unless you are a huge star
broadway_deedee: for me personally,
broadway_deedee: being an asian actor
broadway_deedee: here are so few roles
broadway_deedee: and there are so many talented people
broadway_deedee: so the competition is fierce

broadway_deedee: The mmc was wa an incredible experience for someone at 13
broadway_deedee: i got to do what love to do
broadway_deedee: and it didn't feel like work
broadway_deedee: i didn't get to work very closely with britany and christina
broadway_deedee: the last year that i was there,
broadway_deedee: they were just starting
broadway_deedee: i did see them around the studio
q33q33q asks: Dee Dee, other than MS, what's your favorite shows on Broadway now?
broadway_deedee: they were so little then
broadway_deedee: and when i look at them now,
broadway_deedee: i am so proud of them
juwon127 asks: I'm Hispanic, Dee Dee, and feel the same way. Not that I'm there or anything, but where I live, roles in theatre for minorities are SO hard to find. How did you overcome it or meet the competition?
broadway_deedee: its a constant struggle
broadway_deedee: becuas there are fwe roles
broadway_deedee: but b/c this is somethin g tht I love to do
broadway_deedee: its something i'm not willing to give
broadway_deedee: i think the best thing for you to do
broadway_deedee: is to start writing your own plays or music shows
broadway_deedee: to make yourself and your work known in your community

broadway_deedee: as much as i can
manolis_varnassinger asks: deedee are you married and do you want to have kids
broadway_deedee: is that a proposal? ;-)

broadway_deedee: i started with miss saigon in 1995
broadway_deedee: that was my first show and only show on broadway
manolis_varnassinger asks: deedee what do you prefer most theater or cinema
broadway_deedee: they are two completely different animals
broadway_deedee: in film
broadway_deedee: and then when its finally time to stand before the camera
broadway_deedee: you have to quickyl get into character
broadway_deedee: and try to feel those emotions on the spot
broadway_deedee: as opposed to th
broadway_deedee: theatrre
broadway_deedee: doing a live show
broadway_deedee: you start from the beginning,
broadway_deedee: and you tkae this journey
broadway_deedee: you get to play off of other actors
broadway_deedee: and create moments
broadway_deedee: and in film,
broadway_deedee: sometimes its just you and the camera
yimhung.geo asks: Then are most roles very specific in the type/look/and kind of people to cast?
broadway_deedee: I'm finding that a lot of casting directors
broadway_deedee: for film and television
broadway_deedee: have a specific type in mind
broadway_deedee: before they even see actors
broadway_deedee: i'm just happy that i am given the opportunity to audition
broadway_deedee: and more and more
broadway_deedee: people are open to non-traditional casting
digiduck1 asks: What is the funniest on-stage moment working on MS?
broadway_deedee: i don't know if this is very funny
broadway_deedee: but i worked with a small child in miss saigon
broadway_deedee: and there are specific times during the show
broadway_deedee: when the child has the opportunity to use the restroom
broadway_deedee: and i guess at that moment, one night,
broadway_deedee: he didn't need to
broadway_deedee: in the middle of a scene
broadway_deedee: right before we entered
broadway_deedee: he needed to tinkle
broadway_deedee: since i had a water bottle
broadway_deedee: we took care of the problem
broadway_deedee: on the stage,
broadway_deedee: behind some scenery
broadway_deedee: e was really emarrasedbarraed though
